Excellent customer service, professional and friendly. My movers were highly skilled and trustworthy. I can't believe how hard these guys work. They really made everything so easy for me.
Upright, baby grand, or antique uprights moved with skid boards and rigging built for the job.
One written number, no walkthrough required.
A piano is one of the few household items where a mistake isn’t just expensive — it can be dangerous. Uprights and consoles run a few hundred pounds, baby grands considerably more, and both are awkward in ways that don’t match their weight. West Texas Master Movers trains crews specifically on piano handling rather than treating it like an oversized dresser.
The weight distribution on a piano is uneven and shifts as the instrument tilts, which is exactly when accidents happen — on stairs, through narrow doorways, or loading up a ramp into the truck. Our crews use piano boards, dedicated straps, and enough hands on the load to keep the instrument level through every transition point, not just the easy stretches.
Because ranch-style homes are common in West Texas, a lot of our piano moves are single-level, which actually simplifies things compared to hauling a grand piano down an apartment stairwell. But single-story doesn’t mean easy — long hallways, tight doorway turns, and gravel driveways all still require careful staging.
| Piano Type | Typical Crew |
|---|---|
| Upright / Console | 3 movers |
| Baby Grand | 4 movers |
| Grand / Studio | 4-5 movers |
A word on DIY piano moving: renting a dolly and asking a couple of friends to help is one of the most common ways pianos get damaged or floors get gouged — the equipment matters as much as the muscle, and most rental dollies aren’t rated for how a piano’s weight actually shifts mid-move.
If your piano is staying within the Midland-Odessa area, it’s typically bundled into a standard local move at an hourly rate with the piano crew added. If the piano is heading to a new home out toward Lubbock, DFW, or another route, it gets padded, boarded, and secured for the highway separately from the rest of your household goods, since it needs different bracing than boxed furniture.
Emilio has run piano jobs long enough to know which staircases and doorway widths cause trouble before the crew even measures — if you’re not sure whether your piano will clear a hallway or turn, mention the make and rough dimensions when you request a quote and we’ll plan around it.
Temperature swings matter almost as much as handling does. A piano left in a hot garage or a non-climate-controlled space for even a few days can start to go out of tune or warp at the joints, which is a bigger issue here than in milder climates given how quickly a closed-up space heats up in West Texas summers.
If there’s a gap between move-out and move-in, our climate-controlled storage is a better option for a piano than a standard unit, and we’ll place it properly rather than wedging it in alongside boxes and furniture.
One number covers the crew, the gear, and the care — nothing itemized after the fact.
